On November 25, the unveiling ceremony of the United Institute of Medical Humanities, Sun-Yat Sen University (SYSU) was held at Swassey Hall on Guangzhou south Campus. Dr. Kongjun Zhu, Chairman of the University Council; Prof. Song Gao, SYSU President addressed the ceremony. SYSU Vice President, Prof. Shi Xie presided over the ceremony.

Dr. Kongjun Zhu emphasized that the integration of medicine and humanities is crucial for high-quality medical services. The establishment of the Institute for Medical Humanities marks a significant step in this field, aiming to contribute to medical practice and human well-being. He hopes that the institute will be developed into a leading platform for medical humanities research in China, fostering discipline development and innovative talent cultivation.

In his keynote speech, Prof. Song Gao introduced that the institute integrates existing research platforms and scholars of SYSU, aiming to promote interdisciplinary research. Following the ceremony, the institute held its first forum on medical humanities, on which experts from prestigious universities delivered insightful speeches, sharing the latest research findings and experiences in the field of medical humanities.
The event was also attended by over 120 guests, including representatives from SYSU's Faculty of Arts and Humanities, affiliated hospitals, and departments relevant with health care, while media representatives also attended the event.
