Dr. Fan Wang is a Professor of School of Business who received a Distinguished Young Scholars Fund by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) in 2012. He graduated from the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University for Bachelor to PhD from 1993 to 2002. In 2002, he became a Research Staff Member at IBM Research Lab (Beijing). In 2003, through the Admission Scheme for Mainland Talents by the Hong Kong SAR Government, he became a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Logistics Management, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He joined School of Business, Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) as a Professor since 2006. He has served as Chair of the Department of Management Science (2006-2008), Deputy Dean (2008-2016), and Dean (2016-2023). He also held the position of Director of the Office of Human Resources of SYSU from 2018 to 2020. He then was appointed as Assistant President of SYSU in 2020. In 2023, he was appointed as Deputy Secretary of the SYSU Party Committee.
Professor Fan Wang won Asian Champion as contestant at the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest in 1998, First Prize of University Teaching Achievement Award by Beijing Municipal Government in 2002, and IBM Faculty Award in 2008. He was selected into the New Century Excellent Talent Program by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in 2010. He won Second Prize of University Teaching Achievement Award by MOE in 2019.
Professor Fan Wang serves as members of both Advisory Committee (Management Sciences Department) of NSFC and Committee of Science and Technology (Management Division) of MOE. He is also the Director of MOE Philosophy and Social Sciences Laboratory of Big Data Driven Management Behaviors and Decision Making.
