In order to further implement the instruction of Wan Qingliang, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and Secretary of Guangzhou Party Committee, and make Guangzhou University City a real spiritual home for college teachers and students, on the afternoon of July 25, the opinion-soliciting meeting of joint implementation of “Guangzhou University City Enhancement Program” by universities in Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center was held on East Campus of SYSU. Zheng Detao, Chairman of Guangzhou University City College Leaders Joint Conference and Secretary of SYSU Party Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Hu Zhenmin, Deputy Inspector of Department of Education of Guangdong Province, Huang Bin, Secretary of CPC Committee of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Liu Sheng, Vice President of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Zhu Hong, Vice President of South China Normal University, Chen Xin, President of Guangdong University of Technology, Hao Zhifeng, Vice President of Guangdong University of Technology, Liu Jianda, Vice President of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Zhu Jiayong, President of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, Cai Qiaozhong, Vice President of Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Ling Jingbo, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of Guanghzou Academy of Fine Arts, Yi Zuoyong, Secretary of Party Committee of Guangzhou University, Cheng Huanwen, Assistant to SYSU President, Wu Yechun, Assistant to President of South China University of Technology, and Professor Yuan Qifeng, member of SYSU research group, participated in the meeting. The meeting was moderated by Lin Weichang, Deputy Mayor of Panyu District and Director of Management Committee of Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center.
The Opinion-Soliciting Meeting
Lin Weichang, Deputy Mayor of Panyu District, informed the participants of the preparatory work of “Guangzhou University City Enhancement Program”. Professor Yuan Qifeng of SYSU research group presented the results of prophase research. Associate Professor Li Jun made a proposal on key projects.
After hearing the research findings, the leaders of universities in Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center had an adequate discussion on joint implementation of “Guangzhou University City Enhancement Program” based on the actual situation of each university, and reached a consensus on the goals and joint measures of building Guangzhou University City into a city for “education, innovation, ecology, culture, safety and living”.
Secretary Zheng Detao proposed that the universities should treat “Guangzhou University City Enhancement Program” as a project of the chief leader, form a scientific and effective working mechanism, further improve and refine the enhancement plan, and start university-led projects as soon as possible.
Deputy Inspector Hu Zhenmin expressed sincere thanks to SYSU for its prophase work, and hoped that all universities in Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center pay adequate attention to “Guangzhou University City Enhancement Program”, and further improve and implement the program.
