On January 11, President Xu Ningsheng attended “Colleges and Universities Contribute to Zhuhai TV Forum” in Zhuhai and delivered a keynote speech on “How Colleges and Universities Promote Local Economic and Social Development”. Liu Zhenxin, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Zhuhai Municipal Committee and Director of the Organization Department; Qian Fangli, Chairman of Zhuhai Municipal People’s Political Consultative Conference; Long Guangyan, Vice Mayor of Zhuhai, were present at the forum.

President Xu Ningsheng introduced the specific practices of Sun Yat-sen University from different aspects including science and technology work, international exchange and cooperation, and the running of Zhuhai Campus. He also explained the next step that SYSU would take to promote local economic and social development. President Xu Ningsheng expressed that with the development concept of integration SYSU would be geared to the overall development strategy of Zhuhai in discipline construction, talent cultivation, scientific research and social service, improve strategic cooperation mechanism, expand the fields and scale of cooperation, jointly promote construction of major projects, and realize mutual development and win-win cooperation with Zhuhai.
