On March 21, the cadenza was played again on East Campus of SYSU. Trio Arcadis, which is composed of three concert performers from France, offered an acoustic feast to teachers and students in the university. The concert is also an important part of the “High Art into Campus” activity of this semester.
Trio Arcadis was established in 2001 by three young artists (Anne-Claire Lantenois, Amandine Ley and Nicolas Saint-Yves) from the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur and the Lyon Conservatoire National Supérieur. With ardent love of chamber music and a tacit understanding of each other, they have continuously explored new pieces of music and left their footprints around the world. On the night of March 21, they came to China with the wonderful music and appeared at Sun Yat-sen university. With exquisite playing skills, they offered a unique acoustic feast to the audience.

On that night, Trio Arcadis, with its successful achievements, received a warm welcome from students. Accompanied by the melodious tunes, in the small auditorium, the three tuxedoed musicians took the audience into a pure land of music. The concert kicked off with “ Piano Trio No. 4”. Sometimes the melody was high-pitched and passionate, sometimes it was light and vivid. “Elegiac Piano Trio No. 1” gave the audience a different experience. The perfect sound combination of the passion of the violin, the low pitch of the cello and the transparence of the piano had lingered in the audience’s ears. "Piano Trio No. 1”, the concluding piece of music, returned to the passionate and vivid style. The upward and downward movement of the fiddlestick brought out a string of musical notes and the musical sound hovered in the quiet auditorium, so that the audience could experience the passion and glamour behind the music. At the end of each chapter, the audience always responded with warm applause and the musicians on the stage would also smile at each other. At the encore performance, Trio Arcadis played an adapted version of the Cantonese folk song “Rosy Clouds Chasing the Moon”, which were cheered by the audience.
After the concert, members of Trio Arcadis said in the interview that despite being here for just a few days, they have fallen in love with SYSU and were honored that they could hold a special concert here; moreover, they hoped that they could come to SYSU again to have more communication with the students who also love music.
Many students said that such concert can not only cultivate their temperament, but also enrich their campus life, and they hoped that more high art activities like this could enrich their extracurricular life.
