On the afternoon of March 20, 2015, a delegation led by Mr. Lee Sanders, Registrar of University of Birmingham (UoB), visited SYSU. Members of the UoB delegation also included Prof. Richard Williams OBE, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Head of College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, and Prof. Myra Nimmo, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Head of College, Life and Environmental Sciences. Prof. Wei Minghai, Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), met with the guests, accompanied by Prof. Qiu Rongliang, Dean of School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Prof. Gao Dingguo, Head of Department of Psychology, and Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange.

The two sides reviewed the close cooperation in medical science, environmental science, economics and management since the signing of the MOU between UoB and SYSU in 2012. They also exchanged opinions on student exchange, joint degree programs, faculty training and collaborative research. The two sides agreed to launch the dual degree programs in environmental science and psychology, advance the construction of the joint clinical research center, and promote the international summer school programs.

After the meeting, the two sides signed the Dual Degree Collaboration Agreement between UoB and SYSU in Environmental Science, and the Dual Degree Collaboration Agreement between UoB and SYSU in Psychology. Members of the UoB delegation also visited the School of Life Sciences and held a discussion on possible cooperation projects.
