On April 27, the opening ceremony of the 5th Guangdong College Students Science and Technology Festival as well as the final of the 11th “Challenge Cup” Guangdong College Students Extracurricular Scientific and Technological Works Contest was held in Guangdong University of Technology. The activities were co-organized by Provincial Youth League, Provincial Department of Education, Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Provincial Association of Science and Provincial Students’ Federation. Song Hai, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province and leaders of relevant departments attended the ceremony and also visited the exhibition. Liang Qingyin, Standing Vice Secretary of the Party Committee of SYSU, attended the ceremony and met the contestants of our university, encouraged them to show their brilliance in the competition and win honor for our university.

Our university received the excellent organization award and the “Excellence Cup” in this provincial contest of the “Challenge Cup”. All of the 33 works that our university submitted to the contest have won prizes, among which Molecular Regulation Mechanism of MIR-663’s effect on the proliferation of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Cells, Preliminary Study on the Structure and Function of Human Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGI), Practical New Invention - Catheter Douching and Sealing Device for Venous Indwelling Access claimed the outstanding prizes, in addition, Molecular Regulation Mechanism of MIR-663’s effect on the proliferation of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Cells also received the “contribution award for practicing Program Outline”. What’s more, Roadway Lighting Monitoring System of Intelligent Cities on the Basis of Zigbee and GPRS and other 4 works altogether won the first prize. Active Stereoscopic Defense System and other 9 works won the second prize. Ergonomic Analysis and Improvement Design of Vertical Water Dispenser and other 14 works won the third prize.
