On November 26/27, the 1^st Symposium on Urban Grassroots Governance in China was held at Sun Yat-sen University by Institute for Urban Governance and Urban Development of Center for Public Administration Research, Center for Urban Community Research, School of Government SYSU and Governance and Community Institute (Beijing).

About twenty researchers in urban grassroots governance from Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Mainland were invited for this symposium. They discussed in great details on urban grassroots governance in China, mediation in communities and collective actions of the homeowners. And the researchers also probed into other subjects such as Chinese governance and grassroots governance, national faculty and grassroots governance, autonomy of the grassroots, network administration and mediation in communities, and collective actions of the homeowners.
