On the morning of October 24th, Professor Elizabeth Perry, Director of Harvard-Yenching Institute (HYI), paid a visit to SYSU and presented the HYI Information Session for over a hundred teachers and students in the Swasey Hall.

Professor Elizabeth Perry gave a presentation on the history and development as well as the various programs supported by HYI, including visiting scholars programs, doctoral scholarships, advanced training programs and etc. She also answered questions raised by teachers and students in the Q&A Session. During the Alumni Sharing Session, some scholars who participated in the HYI programs, including Professor Zhou Daming and Associate Professor Yang Xiaoliu from the School of Sociology and Anthropology, Professor Wei Chaoyong from the Department of Chinese, and Associate Professor Zhou Xiang from the Department of History, shared their experiences, feelings and gains in the programs. Active responses were received from teachers and students in the HYI Information Session.
On that day, Professor Cheng Huanwen, Assistant President and Director of Sun Yat-sen University Libraries, Gao Jiuqun, Director of Academic Training Office of Graduate School, Yu Haiyan, Deputy Director of Human Resources Department, and Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange, cordially met with Professor Elizabeth Perry. Professor Cheng Huanwen extended a warm welcome to Professor Elizabeth Perry, and introduced the research strengths of SYSU in the fields of social sciences and humanities. He hoped that SYSU will continue the good partnership with HYI and send more students to HYI for study and communication in the future.
Professor Elizabeth Perry also visited Martin Hall and Former Residence of Chen Yinque, and was deeply impressed by the long history and rich cultural heritage of SYSU.
