On the afternoon of April 11, 2017, a delegation from the University of Bristol visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). The Bristol delegation was led by Professor Hugh Brady, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Bristol. Joining the delegation was Dr. Erik Lithander, Pro Vice-Chancellor; Professor Tim Gallagher, Dean of the Faculty of Science; and Mr. Shi Yi, Director of University of Bristol China Office.
Professor Luo Jun, President of SYSU, met with the Bristol delegation in Zhongshan Building on Guangzhou South Campus. Representatives from relevant schools and departments also attended the meeting.

President Luo Jun welcomed the delegation to SYSU and expressed his firm support for the strongly developing partnership between the two universities. He looked forward to more future collaboration in areas such as biomedicine, environmental sciences, and geography, among others.
President Hugh Brady thanked the SYSU delegates for the warm reception and introduced the academic strengths of the University of Bristol. He discussed the possibility of collaboration in the fields of physics, astronomy and supercomputing, and expressed enthusiasm toward promoting cooperation and exchanges between the two universities.

The leadership meeting culminated in both presidents signing a Memorandum of Understanding agreement, thereby formalizing both parties’ mutual support for the continued development of the bilateral relationship.
The University of Bristol is a red brick research university located in Bristol, United Kingdom. It received its royal charter in 1909. The University of Bristol is organized into six academic faculties composed of multiple schools and departments running over 200 undergraduate courses and is ranked 41st among world universities by the QS World University Rankings 2017.
