On May 9, Guangzhou Branch of Red Cross Society of China announced the list of 36 nurses who win the title of “Nightingale Outstanding Nurse”. Five nurses at the affiliated hospitals of Sun Yat-sen University, namely, Cheng Shouzhen and Zhong Songping at The First Affiliated Hospital, Yang Xuehong at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, Wang Qiaofeng at The Third Affiliated Hospital, and Ye Xinmei at The Sixth Affiliated Hospital win this honor.

In order to commend outstanding performance and set the example of Florence Nightingale, Guangzhou Branch of Red Cross Society of China set up the award to promote the spirit of humanitarianism, philanthropy and dedication.
