The award ceremony of the 1st “Contribution to Daya Bay” Outstanding Talent Award was held on January 10, 2014. The CPC Daya Bay District Committee and the Administrative Committee of Daya Bay District presented the award to 10 outstanding talents in Huizhou Daya Bay Economic and Technological Development Zone. Prof. Liu Xiaolin, Vice President of The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University and President of Huiya Hospital of The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, won the honor.

Huiya Hospital of The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University is one of the people’s livelihood projects of the CPC Huizhou Municipal Committee and Huizhou Municipal People’s Government, as well as a key project of the strategic cooperation between Sun Yat-sen University and Huizhou City. In 2011, Prof. Liu Xiaolin, the then President of Kiang Wu Hospital in Macao, undertook the task of being in charge of the preparation work of Huiya Hospital. After two years of rigorous and effective preparation, Huiya Hospital was put to trial operation in March 2013. Prof. Liu led the management team and the staff of Huiya Hospital to innovate the operating mechanism of public hospital in order to better serve local community, ensuring that Huiya Hospital officially opened on November, 12, 2013.
Prof. Liu Xiaolin has presided over several research projects including 1 major project of 863 Program, 3 projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, 2 projects of Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation, etc. He has published over 30 papers as first author, 6 of which were included in SCI. He has won 8 patents and 1 science and technology achievement award given by Guandong Province, the Ministry of Health, and the Department of Health of Guandong Province respectively. The world advanced level artificial nerve conduit for the repair of peripheral nerve defect –"Shen Qiao", developed by the team led by Prof. Liu Xiaolin, has been successfully put into production and launched into the market, resulting in good social and economic effects.
"Medical workers treat diseases of the patients. We hope to solve the difficulty of seeing doctors for the people of Daya Bay District. I’m only a representative of medical workers. This honor given by the government is actually for the group and the entire collective behind me," said Prof. Liu Xiaolin.
