On April 13, 2015, the 2nd Guangdong Teaching Qualification Training Program for Standardized Resident Training Qualification opened on North Campus of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Ms. Xia Dan, Secretary of Party Committee of Faculty of Medical Sciences of SYSU, moderated the opening ceremony. Ms. Peng Wei, Deputy Director of Guangdong Health and Family Planning Commission, delivered a speech. 105 clinical backbones from 25 standardized resident training bases participated in the training. 85% of them are endowed with senior professional title.

Ms. Peng Wei said that the training of medical talents is vital to the medical system reform. The improvement of medical training mechanism with Chinese characteristics will benefit the construction of “Five Years of Undergraduate Study Plus Three Years of Standardized Training”, the new mode of clinical training. To realize the standardization and normalization of teaching qualification training, Guangdong Heath and Family Planning Commission decided to entrust SYSU to organize the training by using its good-quality teaching resources. The 1st management qualification teaching training from January to March this year was held successfully. Trainees in the program had a deep understanding of the policies of standardized resident training and were clear about their responsibilities, laying a solid foundation for standardized resident training in Guangdong. She wished this training program a complete success.

Ms. Xia Dan appreciated the trust from Guangdong Health and Family Planning Commission. She believed that with joint efforts, the excellent teachers at SYSU would provide strong support for Guangdong standardized resident training by offering well-designed courses.
