On the morning of July 21, 2015, the delegation led by Mr. Victor Malecki, Commercial Counsellor of Royal Danish Embassy in Beijing, visited The Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. Dr. Bin Wu, assistant president of the hospital, Ms. Minmin Yang, director of the Party Affairs and Administration Office, and other relevant faculties met the guests at the hospital conference room.

Dr. Bin Wu expressed a warm welcome to Mr. Victor Malecki and the delegation on behalf of the hospital. Mr. Malecki introduced the five cooperative strategies developed by the Ministry of the Interior and Health of Denmark and the National Health and Family Planning Commission of China, as well as the current status and future challenge of Denmark’s healthcare system. The five cooperative areas include healthcare information system promotion, chronic diseases management and prevention, hospital reform, implementation of DRGs system in China and medical services for elderly people. Dr. Wu gave a short introduction of the history, current status as well as the mission of the hospital. The two sides had an in-depth discussion on current healthcare system reform and the potential areas of future cooperation between Denmark and China. Dr. Wu introduced the strength of the hospital, and expressed the hope to have future cooperation with Denmark in infectious diseases, hepatic and liver diseases, disaster medicine, psychology, oncology, geriatrics, medical equipment innovation, hospital administration, etc. Mr. Malecki showed a strong interest in future cooperation, and look forward to effective collaborative programs between Danish and Chinese hospitals in the near future, especially the establishment of a platform for academic cooperation and exchange.
Denmark has one of the most efficient and equal healthcare systems in the world. The system is centralized by the government, run directly by the regional authorities to provide convenient and high-quality medical services to the residents. At the same time, the continuous research and development (R&D) carried out by drug research institutions, large invention of new drugs and the constant emergence of research talents has created abundant resources for pharmaceutical industry. Mr. Malecki’s visit has enhanced the mutual trust and understanding, while building a solid foundation for our future cooperation.
