The International Nursing Forum of Global Consortium for Chronic Care 2016 was held in Guangzhou on March 4-5. The forum was co-hosted by School of Nursing Sun Yat-sen University, School of Nursing Johns Hopkins University, School of Nursing The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Faculty of Health University of Technology Sydney. The theme of the forum was “Enhancing Global Collaboration, Improving Quality of Care”. Over 400 experts, scholars and nurses from the United States, Australia, mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao attended the forum.
Prof. Minbin Yu, Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University, Prof. Xiaoying Jiang, Vice President of Chinese Nursing Association, Prof. Gangyi Peng, Deputy Director of Division of Medical Administration in Health Department of Guangdong Province, Prof. Patricia Davidson, Dean of School of Nursing Johns Hopkins University, Prof. Alex Molasiotis, Head of School of Nursing The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Prof. John Daly, Dean of Faculty of Health University of Technology Sydney, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
The unveiling ceremony of Global Consortium for Chronic Care Nursing Research Center
Centering on the theme of “chronic care”, 10 experts and professors from Sun Yat-sen University, Johns Hopkins University, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and University of Technology Sydney gave keynote presentations from the perspectives of health policy, global vision, nursing science, public health, and anthropology. Three concurrent sessions were held on gerontology care, cancer care, community and rehabilitation nursing, stroke care, etc. Authors of 60 papers demonstrated their researches which stirred up heated discussion.
In order to promote global cooperation in chronic care, the School of Nursing Sun Yat-sen University, School of Nursing Johns Hopkins University, School of Nursing The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Faculty of Health University of Technology Sydney jointly established the Global Consortium for Chronic Care Research Center, and held the unveiling ceremony. The four schools also signed a memorandum of understanding in the same day. In the future, the Center will conduct various research cooperations, make suggestions for relevant government policy-making, and cultivate young nursing researchers.
