Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Pathology Alliance and College of Pathology of FAH-SYSU Established
On January 12, 2019, the inaugural meeting for the establishment of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Pathology Alliance and College of Pathology of The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University (FAH-SYSU) was held in Guangzhou. Pathologists from Duke University, UT Southwestern Medical Center extended their greetings and congratulations on the event.
The College of Pathology of FAH-SYSU will provide an important platform for strengthening standardized resident training for pathology, talent cultivation, tele-consultation and multi-center research.
2019 Spring Festival Gala Was Held by The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University
On the evening of January 23, 2019, The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University held the 2019 Spring Festival Gala, which lasted for more than three hours. 25 programs including shadow play, jazz, tap dance were performed. More than 500 staff watched the show on site.

On January 22, 2019, Professor Sun Dongbai, Executive Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University, visited The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, extending greetings for the coming lunar new year and the university’s support to the hospital.
The leadership of FAH-SYSU and other participants conducted an in-depth discussion with Professor Sun Dongbai on platform construction, talent recruitment, continuing education, and construction of the hospital in the future.

On January 10, 2019, Professor Deng Chunhua, Director of Andrology, The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, officially served as President of the Chinese Society of Andriatics.
Pathologists from Duke University & UWA Appointed Visiting Professors of The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University
On January 11, 2019, Professor Huang Jiaoti, Distinguished University Professor and Chairman, Department of Pathology, Duke University and Professor Zheng Minghao, Pro Vice Chancellor International and Director of Orthopaedic Research, University of Western Australia were appointed Visiting Professors of FAH-SYSU.
Professor Xiao Haipeng, Vice President of SYSU and President of FAH-SYSU, and Prof. Kuang Ming, Vice President of FAH-SYSU had an in-depth discussion with the two visiting professors on the development of pathology and faculty training. The joining of two international pathologists has established a bridge for further cooperation between the hospital, Duke University and the University of Western Australia, and will play a positive role in promoting the development of pathology, faculty training and scientific research.
Vice President of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School Visited The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University
On January 15, 2019, Professor David Read, Vice President, Dana- Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School delivered a speech on Current Topics & Trends in U.S. Academic Teaching Hospital, sharing his methods on improving doctor/patient experience and balancing “three responsibilities” (namely clinical work, teaching and research) of teaching hospitals.
Professor Xiao Haipeng, Vice President of SYSU and President of FAH-SYSU, and Professor Kuang Ming, Vice President of FAH-SYSU had a discussion with Professor David Read, expressing their intention to cooperate in the fields of faculty training, joint academic conferences, international medicine and multi-center clinical research.
