On the morning of Dec. 29^th, Canadian consul-general in Guangzhou Mr. Weldon Epp (Chinese name: Ai Weidun) and vice consul Jean-Philippe Davignon visited our university.

This was Mr. Weldon Epp’s first visit to SYSU since he had taken office as consul-general. Vice president Wei Minghai met with the guests in the VIP Hall of Zhongshan Building. He introduced the status quo of international cooperation, discipline establishment and talent cultivation etc. He especially gave a review and the outlook for the cooperation and exchange between our university and Canadian universities. Mr. Ai Weidun introduced the role and function that Canadian state governments played in promoting academic interaction between China and Canada. He expressed his willingness in bridging our university and Canadian universities, enterprises and governments in fields like co-teaching and academic research.

Mr. Weldon Epp took up the post of Canadian consul-general in Guangzhou in Oct. 2011.
