The delegation led by Prof. Glenn Wightwick, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Research) at UTS, visited SYSU.

Prof. Yan Guangmei extended a warm welcome to the guests. He said that since the signing of the Key Technology Partnership Agreement in April 2013, SYSU and UTS have made rapid progress in cooperation. Prof. Glenn Wightwick thanked Prof. Yan Guangmei for the warm welcome. He said that UTS regards SYSU as an important partner. SYSU is the first university he visited after he became Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Vice-President (Research) of UTS in August 2014. The two universities will establish the Joint Research Institute-Health Technology and Innovation, and expand collaborations in nursing, supercomputing and water resources.

The delegation also visited School of Advanced Computing and School of Engineering. They held discussions with representatives from School of Advanced Computing, School of Nursing, School of Geography and Planning, School of Engineering and Graduate School. The two sides reached consensuses in short-term faculty visit, joint degree program and research cooperation.

The University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) was founded in 1988. As early as 1998, SYSU and UTS signed a university-level MOU. In April 2013, the two universities signed Key Technology Partnership Agreement, Agreement for a Dual Doctoral Degree Program and Collaboration Agreement to Establish a Student Exchange Program. In 2014, the student exchange program was officially started. In July 2014, SYSU and UTS signed a MOU on Joint Research Institute-Health Technology and Innovation, and the two universities will sign a cooperation agreement recently.
