On the morning of March 31, 2015, a four-member delegation led by Dr. Warren K. Wray, Vice Chancellor for Global and Strategic Partnerships of Missouri University of Science and Technology (MUST), visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Members of the delegation also included Ms. Laura Stoll, Vice Provost and Dean of Enrollment Management, and Dr. Xiaoqing Liu, Professor of Computer Science at MUST.

Prof. Zhu Xiping, Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests in Zhongshan Building on South Campus. The attendees of the meeting also included Prof. Chao Hongyang, Deputy Dean of School of Software; Prof. Wang Gang, Deputy Dean of School of Physics and Engineering; Prof. Chen Binglong, Deputy Dean of School of Mathematics & Computational Science; Associate Professor Zhou Xiaocong, Assistant Dean of School of Information Science and Technology; and Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange.
Prof. Zhu Xiping extended a warm welcome to the delegation from MUST, and introduced the general situation and academic strengths of SYSU. Dr. Warren K. Wray, gave a general introduction to MUST and its outstanding research fields. The two sides agreed to conduct educational and research cooperation in materials science, information science, computer science and energy.

Afterwards, members of the delegation held a meeting with representatives from School of Software, School of Physics and Engineering, School of Mathematics & Computational Science, and School of Information Science and Technology. The two sides exchanged opinions on joint degree program and research collaborations.

Missouri University of Science and Technology was founded in 1870, and has developed into a comprehensive university including civil engineering, electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering and chemical engineering. Its key research fields include advanced manufacturing, advanced materials for sustainable infrastructure, enabling materials for extreme environments, smart living, etc.
