On the afternoon of September 10, 2015, Mr. Zhang Jianguo, Vice Minister of Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and Administrator of State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA), came to Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) to inspect the talent introduction work.

Members of the SAFEA group also included Ms. Zhang Yali, Deputy Administrator of SAFEA, Mr. Nie Biao, Director of Department of Cultural and Educational Experts of SAFEA, Mr. Liu Maozhou, Inspector of Department of Cultural and Educational Experts of SAFEA, and Mr. Li Yong, Deputy Director of General Administration Office of SAFEA. The group was accompanied by Mr. Zheng Qingshun, Deputy Director of the Organization Department of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, Mr. Lao Zhihong, Director of Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs of Guangdong Province.

Prof. Luo Jun, President of SYSU, Prof. Wei Minghai, Vice President of SYSU, and heads of relevant departments and schools of SYSU attended the meeting.

Prof. Luo Jun thanked SAFEA, the Ministry of Education and relevant departments in Guangdong province for their great support. He said that SYSU has integrated talent introduction with discipline construction, made considerable progress in talent cultivation, scientific research, discipline development and school administration, and improved the university’s international influence. Then, Prof. Wei Minghai gave a general introduction to the talent introduction and faculty development of SYSU.

Mr. Zhang Jianguo pointed out that SYSU has attached great importance to the talent introduction work and the leading role of high level talents in realizing its goal of building world-class university.

After the meeting, Mr. Zhang Jianguo and the group went to the School of Geography and Planning to attend the plaque unveiling ceremony of the International School of Geography, which was approved in June 2015 as one of the second batch of pilot schools under the “promotion plan of internationalization demonstration schools in universities” by SAFEA and the Ministry of Education.

Afterwards, the group visited the Innovation and Talent Introduction Base of Photoelectronic and Functional Molecular Solids Materials, and Lehn Institute of Functional Materials at SYSU.
