On December 1-4, 2015, a five-member delegation led by Dr. Zebulun Davenport, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs of IUPUI, visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) and discussed issues related to student affairs and community service.

On December 1, Prof. Yang Guangmei, Vice President of SYSU, met with the IUPUI delegates in Zhongshan Building on South Campus. He extended a warm welcome to the guests and introduced SYSU’s recent development planning and student affairs work. Dr. Zebulun Davenport said that he was glad to visit SYSU again and introduced the student affairs efforts at IUPUI. The two sides discussed possibilities of exchanges for students and student counselors on the basis of existing collaborations.

On December 2, the IUPUI delegates, together with 82 student counselors from SYSU and over 150 representatives from universities in Guangdong province, attended the International Students’ Affairs Symposium SYSU-IUPUI on East Campus. The IUPUI delegates gave lectures on “Overview of IUPUI Division of Student Affairs”, "Maintaining the Health of IUPUI Students” and “Leadership Training”, and had active interactions with the participants on these topics.

During the visit, the IUPUI delegates had a seminar on community service & service learning with faculty and students from the School of Philanthropy. They also had a meeting with students on Zhuhai Campus and discussed topics on personality and development as well as leadership training. The delegates visited the libraries, student activity centers and dormitories on different campuses.

Prof. Zhu Jiangang, Executive Dean of School of Philanthropy, Mr. Mo Hua, Director of Student Affairs Office, Mr. Lin Junhong, Deputy Director of Student Affairs Office, and Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange, participated in the events.
