On March 26, a delegation from the Mongolian Democratic Party visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) in Guangzhou. Representatives from both sides expressed a shared commitment to deepening cooperation in academic research and talent cultivation.

Prof. Fan Wang, Vice Chairperson of SYSU, highlighted the longstanding ties between China and Mongolia in the areas of culture, science, and education.

He noted that joint research efforts between SYSU and Mongolian institutions, particularly in fields such as archaeology and cultural heritage conservation have already made notable achievements.

The Mongolian Democratic Party, one of the country’s major political parties, was founded on December 6, 2000, and currently has around 180,000 members.

On March 24, 2025, the International Department, Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held a meeting in Beijing with the delegation from the Mongolian Democratic Party. During the meeting, the two sides signed the Memorandum of Exchange and Cooperation between the Communist Party of China and the Mongolian Democratic Party.

Shengping Chen, Director of the Education Administration, and Pengtu Liu, Director of the Office of Academic Development and Quality Management at the Graduate School, shared the university’s effective approaches to cultivating innovative talent at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and engaged the delegation in discussions on academic training and institutional development.

Both parties expressed their shared hope to further promote exchanges and interaction among young people from China and Mongolia, underscored the importance of building collaborative platforms and encouraged more Mongolian students to study at SYSU.

The visit marked a meaningful step toward enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between SYSU and Mongolia, which is expected to further advance higher education cooperation with countries along the Belt and Road Initiative.
