A few days ago, the World Final of 36th ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM/ICPC) ended in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. The SYSU delegation, composed of Liu Jiahui, a senior from School of Software, Liu Chenheng, a senior from School of Information Science and Technology and Tan Ruiyang, a sophomore from School of Information Science and Technology, showed their talents in this contest. Among the 112 teams from all over the world, SYSU team ranked sixth (second of Asia). This was the second global Silver Prize obtained by SYSU and it broke the record in the university’s history. It was the thirteenth time SYSU had entered the World Final of ACM/ICPC since 1997. This SYSU representative team was coached by Professor Guo Songshan from School of Software, and the assistant coaches were teachers Liu Xiaoming and Lin Han from School of Information Science and Technology.

The champion of the 2012 World Final was won by St. Petersburg State University of IT, Mechanics and Optics, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University ranked fourth (the Golden Prize).
