The Hospital Ranked No. 6 in China
The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University has been ranked 6th in China and 1st in South China in the latest ranking list.
A total of 15 disciplines are top 10 in the national reputation ranking list, including Critical Care Medicine, Nephrology, Otorhinolaryngology, Reproductive Medicine, Neurology, Medical Ultrasonics, Pathology, General Surgery, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Rehabilitation Medicine, Allergic Reaction, Radiology and Clinical Pharmacy.
In addition, 33 disciplines are top 5 in South China, 15 of which are ranked 1st.
Day Surgery Center Officially Opened in the Hospital
On November 12, 2019, the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University opened the Day Surgery Center. The Center is equipped with 5 operating rooms and 18 post-operative beds and will be able to perform hundreds of different operations.
2019 Sun Yat-sen Alliance Summit on Emergency & Disaster Medicine Co-Hosted by Department of Emergency Medicine
From November 8 to 9, 2019, the Department of Emergency Medicine, The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University co-hosted the 2019 Sun Yat-sen Alliance Summit on Emergency & Disaster Medicine. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Xiong Yan, Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine, FAH-SYSU.
The summit attracted nearly 100 domestic and international experts and more than 400 attendees.
Experts from Harvard University Visited the Hospital
On November 7, 2019, Professor Stefan G. Tulius, Department of Organ Transplant, Harvard University visited the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University. Professor He Xiaoshun, Vice President of FAH-SYSU, had an in-depth discussion with Professor Tulius about the development of the ischemia-free organ transplantation.
A Delegation from Macao Physical Therapist Association Visited the Hospital
On October 19, 2019, 26 physical therapists from the Macao Physical Therapist Association visited the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University. Experts from the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine had an in-depth discussion with the delegation.
In addition, the delegation visited the Medical Museum, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, the Occupational Therapy Center, the Speech Therapy Center, the Prosthetic and Orthopedic Center and the Sports Reconstruction Laboratory.
2019 International Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases Forum of Greater Bay Area (Guangdong) Held by the Hospital
On November 16, 2019, the 2019 International Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases Forum of Greater Bay Area (Guangdong) was held in Guangzhou. The forum was organized by the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Li Yanbing, Director of the Department of Endocrinology. Professor Xiao Haipeng, President of FAH-SYSU, addressed the ceremony.
Renowned endocrinologists from Joslin Diabetes Center, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), University of Birmingham, and University of Melbourne gave speeches on the latest research and findings. The forum attracted more than 800 domestic and international experts.
Endocrinologists from the UK, USA and Australia Visited the Hospital
On November 15, 2019, a delegation of renowned endocrinologists visited the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, including Professor George King, Professor Mary-Elizabeth Patti and Professor Steven Shoelson from Joslin Diabetes Center; Professor Sethu Reddy, President-elect, and Mr. Paul Markowski, Executive Vice President of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists; Professor Kristien Boelaert from the University of Birmingham and Professor Elif Ekinci from the University of Melbourne.
The research team of the Hospital shared the latest findings on endocrine and metabolic diseases. All parties had an in-depth discussion on the development and cooperation of this field.
Experts from Hallym University Visited the Hospital
On November 5, 2019, a delegation from Hallym University led by Professor Jin Longshan, Director of International Affairs and Research visited the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University.
The two sides conducted an in-depth discussion and reached a consensus on future cooperation in the fields of faculty training, medical big data, joint research, joint grant application and joint international conferences.
